City's first 'glow garden' to come up at Joggers Park
LUCKNOW, Oct. 28 -- Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop the city's first 'glow garden' at Joggers Park on Hardoi Road, transforming the popular green space into a night-time attraction with illuminated sculptures and themed lighting effects.
LDA vice-chairman Prathmesh Kumar inspected the park and directed officials to begin work on the project, which will be executed at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.
The park, spread across 17.5 acres in the Basant Kunj scheme, draws large numbers of visitors daily for morning walks, exercise and leisure. To enhance the park's appeal, LDA will install specially designed models of trees, animals, flowers and birds, all fitted with vibrant lighting that will glow after dark. In addition, 'Gobo' lighting will be used to project decorative shapes and patterns across pathways and open areas, giving the park a distinctive identity. An LDA official said that some of the works have already started in the park, and some work still needs to get started.
The development plan also includes strengthening existing civic and horticulture features. LDA will set up an open gym, a yoga hut, and install 12 sculptures depicting various yoga postures near the exercise zone. A dedicated kids' play area will be upgraded with new play structures and safe flooring.
There are five water bodies within the park, which will now feature newly installed fountains to enhance the visual environment and create a soothing ambience in the evenings.
One of the major upgrades under the project is the repair and elevation of the 800-meter jogging track, which currently suffers damage and waterlogging during rain. .
LDA officials said the work will be carried out in phases, aiming to make the park a landmark recreational attraction for residents and visitors in the city....
