Lucknow, Nov. 3 -- UP chief secretary SP Goyal on Monday directed departments concerned to prepare district-wise gender action plans to address gaps in women's economic participation, based on the findings of the Women's Economic Empowerment Index (WEE Index)-2.0. Chairing a meeting to review the index, Goyal said it should not remain confined to data assessment but should serve as a basis for departmental planning and policy decisions. "The action plans should identify gaps, their underlying causes, proposed interventions, measurable targets, timelines and accountability of officials concerned," he said. He called for a special focus on districts reporting low or zero participation of women in various economic activities.
