Lucknow, June 27 -- The eight people arrested by the Ayodhya police on Friday morning over the alleged embezzlement of donations received at the Ram temple include Ram Shankar Yadav 'Tinnu', a close aide-cum-chauffeur of Champat Rai, general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Yadav, one of the most prominent names among those arrested, hails from Ayodhya and rose from modest beginnings. His father ran a small tea shop near Naya Ghat, and Yadav worked as an auto and tempo driver in the town during the mid-1990s. He worked his way into internal temple management due to his proximity to Rai, allegedly controlling the security, counting, and transportation of massive amounts of offerings. He came under scrutiny after allegations surfaced regarding irregularities in the handling of offerings and claims that he had amassed disproportionate assets, properties and gold. Yadav has denied those allegations. Manish Yadav: Among those arrested is Ram Shankar Yadav's nephew, Manish Yadav, son of his younger brother Balram Yadav. Manish was actively involved in the donation-counting process at the temple. Subhash Srivastava: The former bank employee was also arrested. He served as the in-charge of cash counting at the Ram Mandir and supervised the entire counting process. Owing to his banking background, he had been specifically appointed to oversee the staff counting donations. Anukalp Mishra: Another accused, Anukalp Mishra, a resident of Basawan village in Ayodhya's Milkipur area, was entrusted with counting daily donations. He is reported to be related to Trust member Anil Mishra and is the brother-in-law of co-accused Lavkush Mishra. Stolen money was allegedly recovered from his residence. Lavkush Mishra: Also reportedly related to Anil Mishra, he was assigned donation-counting duties at the temple. Lavkush Mishra and his brother-in-law, Anukalp Mishra, are accused of siphoning off funds, which CCTV footage and the physical recovery of stolen money from their residences allegedly corroborated. Avinash Shukla: He was also assigned counting duties, and people familiar with the matter said there was talk of Rs 5 lakh being recovered from his bank account. He was part of a team specifically responsible for handling and counting the cash and valuables received as donations at Ram Mandir. Karunesh Pandey: He was allegedly part of the conspiracy, along with Anukalp and Lavkush Mishra, reportedly manipulating financial receipts related to incoming donations while working as part of the core team responsible for handling and counting the cash and valuables offered by devotees to the donation boxes. Ramashankar Mishra: Another member of the cou- nting staff, he was also arrested. He allegedly worked in coordination with other accused to siphon off donation money. He was a core member of the dedicated team responsible for handling, sorting, and counting the cash and valuables offered by devotees at the Ayodhya shrine. Like his co-accused, Mishra was reportedly caught on CCTV footage siphoning off donation money during the cash-sorting process. Investigators alleged that Mishra worked in tan- dem with other counting staff to systematically bypass standard financial protocols to steal the funds over a prolonged period....
