AGRA, Feb. 28 -- Navdeep Rinwa, UP chief electoral officer, reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 in Agra and Aligarh. He said joint efforts by officials and citizens can ensure a pure, transparent and inclusive voter list, which will strengthen the democratic system. Rinwa was in Aligarh on Friday. He said 73% of the hearing of notices issued under the revision exercise has been completed in the district. He addressed officials and booth level officers at the Kalyan Singh Habitat Centre. He said the SIR exercise was a major task in Uttar Pradesh, which has 15,44,36,092 voters. Separate forms were printed for all voters. Each BLO had to contact around 1,000 to 1,200 voters at their homes, obtain signatures, match the details with the 2003 voter list and digitise and map the data through the BLO App. Rinwa said that at the state level, about 70% of hearings have been completed. He said eligible persons can apply for inclusion in the voter list by filling Form 06 by March 6. Claims and objections will be heard till March 27, and the final voter list will be published on April 10. He also felicitated BLOs who performed well in Aligarh and met representatives of political parties. On Thursday, Rinwa visited Agra. He reviewed the progress of SIR-2026 along with Agra divisional commissioner Nagendra Pratap and district magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari. He reviewed digitalisation of forms, EP ratio, gender ratio and details of transfers, deceased and duplicate voters. He directed timely payment of BLO stipends and stressed clear photographs and complete details in forms. He also reviewed disposal under the 'Book A Call With BLO' scheme. It was found that no call had been pending for more than 48 hours in Agra district. He said Uttar Pradesh ranks second after Mizoram in availability of BLOs under this parameter. The chief electoral officer held a meeting with representatives of political parties, including AAP, BSP, BJP, CPI, Congress and Samajwadi Party.
