PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 6 -- Residents will soon have to use the state government's E-Nagar Seva portal to pay house tax, replacing the existing online payment system of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC), civic officials said. The move is part of a state-wide initiative to bring property tax and other civic services of all urban local bodies onto a common digital platform. The existing municipal corporation portal will be discontinued, while property tax records and other relevant data will be migrated to the new system, they added. Prayagraj Municipal Corporation chief tax assessment officer Sanjay Mamgai said the existing portal would remain closed on Thursday and Friday to facilitate data migration and updating of property owners' records. However, residents would be able to deposit property tax offline at the municipal corporation office during the two-day period. Online payment facilities are expected to resume from Monday through the E-Nagar Seva portal after the completion of technical upgradation and data migration, he added. According to Mamgai, a meeting was held in Lucknow on November 4 following directions from the state government to discuss the rollout of tax payment services on the new platform. Officials representing urban local bodies were briefed about the portal and instructed to operationalise it without delay. The E-Nagar Sewa platform is already being used to deliver municipal services across Uttar Pradesh. The portal caters to 763 urban local bodies in the state. Besides property tax payments, it facilitates property mutation, applications for new water and sewerage connections, trade licences and grievance redressal. The platform also allows citizens to access municipal services online rather than making repeated visits to civic offices. The state government formally launched its mobile application on May 25, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen digital delivery of urban civic services....
