carcass of male tiger recovered from Saryu Canal at KWS
Bahraich, Oct. 4 -- The carcass of an adult male tiger was found floating in the Saryu Canal near Hasuliya Bridge in the Motipur Range of Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary (KWS) on Saturday afternoon, according to forest officials.
Forest personnel spotted the carcass around 1:00 pm. Forest personnel subsequently retrieved and secured the carcass according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) prescribed by the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
Divisional forest officer Apoorv Dixit stated that an expert panel comprising veterinarians, administrative representatives and independent experts conducted a detailed post-mortem examination.
"Preliminary examination indicates the tiger was an adult male, approximately 8-9 years old. Initial findings point toward internal physical injuries caused by blunt-force trauma," said Dixit.
