Car falls into Amlava river, 3 dead, 1 injured
Mussoorie, June 27 -- Three people were killed and one critically injured when a car fell about 300 metres into Amlava river in Dehradun district on Thursday morning, police said.
"The accident took place near Jajret village in the Kalsi area. A car bearing registration number UK07 FC 8467, carrying four occupants, veered off the road and plunged into the Amlava river," said Deepak Dhariwal, station in-charge of Kalsi police station.
"Upon receiving information about the accident, a team from Kalsi police station, along with personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), rushed to the spot and began a rescue operation. The injured person was rescued and taken to Vikasnagar hospital, from where he was referred to Doon Hospital for advanced treatment," he said.
He further said the deceased have been identified as Mukesh Rana (21), a resident of Koti Kanasar village near Chakrata; Priyanshu Chauhan (22), from Tilwari village near Sahaspur; and Deepak Sati (25) of Bhauwala near Selaqui in Dehradun district. The injured was identified as Mayak Chouhan (20).
"Preliminary findings suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the fatal plunge," the officer said....
