Bulldozer action after minor sexually assaulted
MEERUT, June 10 -- The Amroha police on Monday night demolished an alleged illegal construction belonging to a youth accused of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old neighbour belonging to a Scheduled Caste family in a village under the Rahra police station area of the district, said officials.
They said the action was taken as part of the police's zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and girls.
According to the family, the 18-year-old accused lured the Class 2 student, made her sit on a buffalo cart and took her to the jungle area near the village where he assaulted her. The girl returned home crying and narrated the incident to her family members.
The victim's family, which belongs to a labourer household living on the outskirts of the village, immediately took the girl to the Rahra police station and lodged a complaint demanding action.
The girl was admitted to a hospital, where her condition was stated to be stable.
The accused, identified as Farman, a resident of the same village, was booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the SC/ST Act, said the SP. The cops launched a search operation as the accused fled from his house following the incident....
