DERA BABA NANAK (GURDASPUR), Sept. 22 -- The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday stopped Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj from holding an "ardas" (prayers) for the reopening of the Kartarpur Corridor at the India-Pakistan border, citing security concerns and strict protocols. The group had gathered to participate in a joint prayer programme organised by Sikh communities on both sides of the India-Pakistan border for the early reopening of the Kartarpur corridor. The event coincided with the Joti Jot Gurpurb of Guru Nanak. BSF personnel stopped the jathedar-led procession as it headed towards the darshan asthan, a raised viewing platform near the Zero Line, citing instructions from senior authorities. Requests by SGPC representatives to allow a small group to proceed and exchange ceremonial offerings were also turned down. The group then sat on the ground and offered an "ardas" for bilateral peace and regional stability. The Kartarpur corridor, which facilitates devotees to pay obeisance at the historic gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, has remained shut since May 7 last year, when the Indian armed forces carried out pre-dawn missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir....
