Meerut, March 30 -- A 30-year-old man was found brutally murdered in the early hours of Saturday in Amroha district. The victim, Mehraj Chaudhary, was discovered lying on a cot in the veranda of his home with his throat slit and his hands and legs tied. Police said the attackers used a sharp weapon. The body had several deep wounds on the neck, abdomen, arms and legs. This suggests the attack was violent and planned. At the time of the incident, Mehraj was asleep outside. His wife, Ruhi, was sleeping nearby with their younger son. Their elder son, aged four, was sleeping next to Mehraj. Bloodstains were found on the child's clothes, showing he was very close during the attack. The case became suspicious due to different statements. Ruhi told police that unknown men entered the house, tied her up and stole her earrings and mobile phone. However, Mehraj's father said he found Ruhi asleep when he arrived in the morning, while his son's body was lying on the cot. Police officials, including station house officer Rajesh Kumar Tiwari and crime inspector Amarpal Singh, reached the scene . A forensic team and fingerprint experts were called in to collect evidence. Circle officer Avadhbhan Singh Bhadoria also visited the spot as part of the ongoing investigation. Adding to the case, the victim's aunt, Israrin, said that Mehraj and his wife had been having frequent arguments over the past few days. Mehraj had recently returned from Delhi, where he worked as a labourer, on the eve of Chand Raat. Because of tension at home, he had reportedly been taking his meals at his aunt's house for the last four days. Villagers believe the murder may have taken place while loud DJ music was playing in the area. This could have drowned out any cries for help during the attack. Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination and are investigating all possible angles, including domestic conflict and a staged robbery. SHO Rajesh Kumar Tiwari said that important leads have been found and assured that the case will be solved soon. Meanwhile, Ruhi has been taken into custody for questioning as police try to piece together the sequence of events behind the killing....
