Brajesh Pathak orders inquiry into sale of abortion pills in Mau
LUCKNOW, June 25 -- Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak has ordered an inquiry into reports regarding the over-the-counter sale of abortion pills and the provision of abortion services to minors at hospitals in Mau.
Taking serious note of the allegations, he has directed the director general of the medical and health department, Dr Pawan Arun Kumar, to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a report within one week.
Describing the incidents as extremely serious, the deputy CM stated that such activities not only harm patients but also tarnish the reputation of the medical department.
He has instructed officials to ensure an impartial investigation and to take strict action against anyone found guilty.
In a separate directive, the deputy CM expressed strong displeasure over the delayed inquiry into medicine contracts worth crores of rupees, which were allegedly secured using fake bank guarantees by the Uttar Pradesh Medical Supplies Corporation.
According to an official press statement, Pathak has written to the additional chief secretary of the health department, demanding that the inquiry report be finalised and submitted immediately on a priority basis....
