Book on Netaji seeks to revisit unanswered questions
LUCKNOW, July 11 -- A new book on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Netaji - Bharat Ki Ankahi Gatha (Netaji - India's Untold Saga), was released in Lucknow on Friday, with its author, senior advocate IB Singh, saying the work attempts to address several unanswered questions surrounding the life, struggle and legacy of the freedom fighter.
The book was unveiled at the Mahamana Hall of the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court by Justice Rajan Roy, senior judge of the Allahabad High Court, in the presence of retired Lieutenant General RP Shahi, former Archaeological Survey of India Director General Dr Rakesh Tewari, former Awadh Bar Association president LP Mishra and other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Singh said the book explores issues that continue to generate debate, including Bose's relationship with Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, the circumstances that led him to leave India, the fate of the Indian National Army (INA), the alleged disappearance of its soldiers and assets, questions surrounding reported gold reserves and funds, the circumstances of Bose's death, and Lord Mountbatten's decision to invite Jawaharlal Nehru to Singapore.
Singh said the idea for the book emerged during a visit to the United States in 2021 after the Covid-19 pandemic, when he came across the book Enemy of My Enemy. He said the work inspired him to study more than 50 books on Netaji written by British, French, American and other foreign authors before deciding to write his own account.
According to Singh, the cover artwork has been designed by a Class XII student....
