Haldwani, Sept. 5 -- The body of a 50-year-old woman who went missing two days back was recovered from the Gaula river in Haldwani on Thursday, bringing an end to an extensive search operation carried out by police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Officials identified the deceased as Tulsi Devi (50), wife of Tejram, a resident of Tok Basotiya in Gram Sabha Badon under Bhimtal tehsil of Nainital district.
According to Banbhulpura police station in-charge Sushil Kumar, Tulsi Devi had gone to collect grass in the nearby forest on Tuesday evening but failed to return home. Her family launched a search, and on Wednesday morning villagers discovered her slippers and a sickle lying near the Basotiya river. Fearing that she had been swept away in the strong currents, they alerted the authorities.
An SDRF team immediately began an intensive search operation in the river stretch on Wednesday but failed to trace her....
