Body of Gkp man killed in Saudi drone attack brought home
GORAKHPUR, Oct. 28 -- The body of Kamlesh Pandey, a resident of Kishunpur Bagahi village in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, who was killed in a drone attack at Dammam airport in Saudi Arabia, reached his native village on Tuesday afternoon, plunging his family into grief.
Kamlesh had been working in Saudi Arabia to support his family. His death has left behind his wife, Sunita, and their two daughters, Tanvi, 14, and Tanya, 10, facing an uncertain future.
Sunita said she had spoken to her husband shortly before the attack. During their last conversation, he had appeared normal and advised her not to worry about their daughters' future. The sudden news of his death has left the family struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
"My world has been shattered. How will my two daughters and I survive now?" she said, expressing her anguish over the loss of her husband.
Kamlesh's father, Harishchandra Pandey, was also inconsolable. Recalling his son, he said the family had lost its primary source of financial support. Kamlesh had shouldered the family's responsibilities while working abroad and had also helped arrange his sister's marriage last December.
Kamlesh's brother, Mukesh Pandey, said the family had approached Bansgaon MP and Union minister Kamlesh Paswan for assistance. The minister subsequently wrote to external affairs minister S Jaishankar, requesting necessary action to facilitate the return of Kamlesh's body to India.
Circle officer (Bansgaon) Anuj Kumar Singh was present at the deceased's residence. The family has appealed to authorities for financial assistance for Sunita and her daughters to ensure that the children's education and basic needs are not affected following their father's death. HTC...
