LUCKNOW, March 2 -- A 38-year-old man was found dead inside a refrigerator at an eatery that had remained shut for three days in the Bakshi Ka Talab area of the state capital on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Vijay Pal, a resident of Kishunpur. Police said the body was discovered after a call was received on Dial 112 around 10:30 am regarding a body lying inside a shop located opposite a private college gate in BKT. A team reached the spot and found the body inside a refrigerator kept at the outlet. Officers recovered an Aadhaar card from the deceased's pocket and informed his family. Relatives later reached the scene and confirmed his identity as Vijay Pal, son of Dalai, residing under the BKT police station limits. Officials who conducted a preliminary inspection found no visible external injury marks on the body. Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Gyanendra Singh said the absence of apparent injuries has led investigators to examine whether the body was placed inside the refrigerator after death and to determine the exact cause and time of death. Police sent the body for post-mortem examination. The medical report is expected to ascertain whether the death was due to suffocation, medical complications or any other reason. Teams have begun scanning CCTV footage from nearby establishments to trace the deceased's last movements and identify anyone who may have accompanied him. Shopkeepers and local residents are also being questioned to reconstruct the sequence of events.
