Meerut, May 13 -- A powerful explosion ripped through an abandoned structure in Ishaqpur village, in Sambhal district on Tuesday, damaging nearby houses, injuring several animals, and striking fear among residents. Police and forensic teams launched an investigation into the mysterious blast. According to the police, the exact cause of the blast has not yet been determined. Investigators are examining all possible angles, including the possibility that explosive material may have been stored inside the abandoned house. According to residents, the explosion occurred in a dilapidated house belonging to Shyouraj, a resident of Mubarakpur in neighbouring Bulandshahr district. The structure had reportedly remained abandoned for a long time. Villagers said the blast was so intense that its sound echoed across a large area, sending terrified residents rushing out of their houses. Several houses in proximity to the blast developed cracks in their walls, while window panes shattered due to the impact. Household items inside some homes were also damaged. The explosion also injured more than half a dozen animals tied near the site. Buffaloes belonging to Manoj and Brahmprakash, both residents of Ishaqpur village, suffered burn injuries after being caught in the blast. Villagers quickly rushed to rescue the animals and move them away from the affected area. Residents described scenes of chaos immediately after the incident, with women and children particularly shaken by the sudden explosion. Rajpura police reached the village and secured the area. Additional superintendent of police Manoj Rawat later arrived at the scene with a heavy police force to supervise the investigation. Police cordoned off the site, dispersed crowds, and carried out a detailed inspection of the damaged structure. A forensic team was subsequently called in to examine the scene and collect evidence.
