BJP to mark 650th birth anniv of Sant Ravidas
VARANASI, July 23 -- To commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a nationwide outreach campaign. The initiative, centred on promoting the saint's message of social harmony and equality, involves collecting sacred soil from his birthplace at Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, to be transported across the country.
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh, addressing party office-bearers in Kashi on Tuesday, stated that the party plans to celebrate the anniversary year with grandeur, with events spanning from Ashadh Purnima (Guru Purnima) to Maghi Purnima.
The core of the initiative involves filling 131 urns with soil from the sacred birthplace of the saint. These urns represent 98 organisational districts in Uttar Pradesh, 27 states, and six administrative zones. Once consecrated, these urns will be transported to villages and settlements across India, where they will be worshipped, serving as symbols to propagate the saint's teachings on humanity and brotherhood.htc...
