Lucknow, July 25 -- Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters are increasingly withdrawing from public spaces due to "widespread public anger" against the party. He remarked that BJP flags have been taken down from homes, shops, establishments, and vehicles belonging to these supporters, adding the party's influence will eventually fade from their hearts and minds as well. "These are simple and emotional people, but they have the power of discernment. They are now deeply ashamed of the BJP's deeds," Yadav said. He cited "several incidents," including alleged theft of donations meant for the Ram temple in Ayodhya, supposed attacks on young girls in Delhi, assaults on youth across the country and alleged threats to frame Mumbai protesters in false drug cases. He claimed that both BJP supporters have become ineffective amid the public backlash. "They now step out of their homes only when compelled to do so. They avoid parks and society gatherings, often citing seasonal illnesses like viral fever or cold. Even WhatsApp groups have gone silent," he claimed. Yadav further alleged many committed BJP supporters, who had vigorously defended the party for the last 10 to 12 years - even quarrelling with friends, colleagues, and relatives - are now realising they were on the wrong side. htc...
