BJP plots to amend Constitution by horse-trading, alleges Akhilesh
Lucknow, June 27 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has accused the BJP of systematically undermining Indian democracy, alleging a plot to amend the Constitution through the horse-trading of MPs. Citing a recent spate of fire incidents and accidents across the state, the SP chief also said that human lives have lost their value under the current government.
Addressing party workers at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow on Friday, Yadav warned that the BJP, having lost public support, is preparing to buy legislators to push through arbitrary constitutional changes. Drawing a parallel to Adolf Hitler, he claimed the German dictator similarly used force to secure a majority before establishing an authoritarian regime.
"The BJP is a danger to democracy and the Constitution," Yadav stated. "The 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are not just state polls; they are crucial for saving democracy across the country. Only UP has the power to stop the BJP and save the nation."
Yadav levelled a barrage of allegations against the state's BJP government, claiming that "vote theft, donation theft, and even the theft of temple offerings" have become rampant. "The BJP is not afraid of God," he said. "By the grace of Lord Ram, the Samajwadi Party has raised its voice against these thefts."
He further alleged that corruption and a "commission raj" have led to the structural failure of bridges, roads and water tanks across the state. "Nothing is durable under this government. Human lives have no value," Yadav charged. "There is death everywhere through fires, accidents and murders all driven by corruption and negligence."
Describing the administration as arrogant and insensitive, he claimed it has pushed the state's youth into a crisis and that citizens are weary of the BJP's lies. Calling upon party workers to prepare for the crucial 2027 battle, Yadav urged them to maintain unity, display mutual respect, use appropriate language and remain actively connected with the public....
