PRAYAGRAJ, July 29 -- Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday alleged that people associated with opposition parties infiltrated in the recent students' agitation in Prayagraj and attempted to defame the movement by indulging in disruptive activities. Addressing BJP workers at the Circuit House during his three-day visit to the city and later interacting with the media persons, Maurya said the state government stood firmly with the students and had taken their concerns seriously. However, he alleged that "anti-social elements" linked to the Samajwadi Party, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party entered the agitation and were responsible for the incidents of vandalism. He condemned such acts and accused opposition parties of trying to tarnish the students' movement. Referring to the issue of examination paper leaks, the deputy chief minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken a tough stand against such offences and that Parliament had enacted legislation to curb paper leak cases. Maurya urged BJP workers to actively take the government's development and welfare initiatives to every household and asserted that effective law and order could only be maintained under a BJP government. Calling upon party workers to begin preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, he asked them to further strengthen the organisation at the booth level, maintain regular contact with residents in localities and settlements, and work toward ensuring BJP's victory in all 12 Assembly constituencies of Prayagraj district. He said Prayagraj was witnessing rapid development under the "double-engine" government and that the pace of progress would continue. Responding to a question on the possibility of sitting MLAs being denied party tickets in the next Assembly elections, Maurya said the matter would be decided by the BJP Parliamentary Board. Several BJP leaders and office-bearers, including state vice-president Suresh Maurya, Kashi region vice-president Avdhesh Chandra Gupta, Prayagraj city president Sanjay Gupta and Trans-Ganga district president Nirmala Paswan, were present on the occasion....
