BJP mulling mass ticket changeahead of 2027 UP polls: Akhilesh
LUCKNOW, June 10 -- Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday claimed that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was considering changing its candidates in nearly 225 assembly seats ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh elections due to what he termed "widespread anti-incumbency".
According to him, the ruling party is also likely to replace most of its sitting MLAs and candidates in Prayagraj district because the BJP believes that they gave priority to their personal interests instead of working for the people. Yadav made these claims while addressing party workers at SP headquarters in Lucknow.
"The same formula is now being applied across all 43 Lok Sabha seats won by the INDIA blo and even on those 9-10 seats where the BJP allegedly won through manipulation," he claimed. "This means nearly 225 assembly constituencies will witness changes in candidates," Yadav claimed.
According to him, many sitting BJP MLAs themselves are unwilling to contest the next election, believing they stand no chance against the powerful 'PDA' (Pichhda, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) consolidation.
"BJP's core voters have now shrunk to less than a quarter," the SP chief alleged, claiming that "these MLAs do not want to waste their earnings on a losing battle. Instead, they will prefer to save their money."...
