LUCKNOW, Aug. 10 -- BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh has proposed holding simultaneous job and skill fairs across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh every month for six months, with employers conducting walk-in interviews and making on-the-spot selections as part of a wider government-industry-academia mission to boost employment and employability in the state. In a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Union labour and employment minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Singh suggested holding the fairs on a fixed date every month, preferably on Sundays. He said verified employers should bring actual vacancies and conduct on-the-spot selections. Singh also urged industry leaders to take greater responsibility for training and hiring freshers. He called for CEOs to personally monitor fresher recruitment and apprenticeships and make youth training a board-level key performance indicator. He proposed turning universities, colleges, ITIs and polytechnics into lifelong reskilling hubs by offering three, six and 12-month industry-linked courses in AI, cyber security, robotics, EVs, semiconductors, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing. "Degree once, Learning for Life" should be the guiding principle, Singh said, with industry helping design and regularly update curricula. To forecast future workforce requirements, he proposed regular Jobs and Skills Roundtables involving industry, academia and government to map manpower needs three to five years ahead. Data collected from the fairs on vacancies, applicants, selections and skill gaps could be used to create district-wise employment and skill maps. Candidates who are not selected should be guided towards skill diagnosis, bridge courses and apprenticeships, he said. Singh also called for a more humane approach to recruitment and urged employers to "train before you reject" candidates who lack specific skills. He said the goal should be "opportunity for every youth, training for every skill gap, employment for every skill"....
