BJP has betrayed Lord Ram: SP chief on temple donation theft row
LUCKNOW, July 31 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the alleged loot of donations and offerings made at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, alleging that the party and its associates had committed a "maha paap" (grave sin).
In an official statement, Yadav alleged that the BJP had "violated the sanctity of devotion" through large-scale irregularities at the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. "Offerings were stolen from donation boxes, fake or no receipts were issued for donations, and massive scams involving secret contributions have taken place," the SP chief alleged.
"The faithful public believes the BJP has betrayed Lord Ram. Anyone aligned with the BJP in the matter is an enemy of Lord Ram and guilty of an unforgivable sin," he alleged, demanding that the issue be discussed in Parliament.
Yadav reiterated allegations of irregularities in land deals, claiming that individuals linked to the ruling dispensation purchased properties in Ayodhya at throwaway prices and later sold them to the Trust at inflated rates, in some cases up to 20 times the original cost.
He also accused the Trust of removing honest officials who raised objections, appointing loyalists in their place, failing to record recovered stolen funds and destroying crucial evidence, including CCTV footage....
