LUCKNOW, July 22 -- A 26-year-old Bhojpuri actor-director was killed and his friend severely injured after a speeding truck, allegedly coming from the wrong side, rammed into their motorcycle on Ring Road in Gudamba area here early on Tuesday, police said. The deceased was identified as Rohit Sharma, a native of Turpatty in Kushinagar, who lived with his family in Shankarpuri Colony in Kamta, Chinhat. Besides acting and directing Bhojpuri films, he was pursuing the second year of an ITI course. Gudamba station house officer (SHO) Anjani Kumar Mishra said: "The truck driver has been identified and police teams are conducting raids to arrest him." Rohit's younger brother Manjesh said his elder brother and his friend Shobhit had gone to Malihabad on Monday evening for the shooting of a Bhojpuri film. They were returning home around 4 am on Tuesday when a speeding truck, which had crossed the divider and was travelling on the wrong side hit their bike between Tedhi Pulia and Munshipulia. The impact was so severe that Rohit's helmet shattered, leaving him with grievous head and leg injuries. The truck driver fled the spot with the vehicle after the accident. Police rushed the victims to Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, where Rohit died during treatment later in the day, while Shobhit remains critical....
