Battling school zone snarls:Traffic police train marshals
LUCKNOW, March 7 -- In a bid to decongest school zones and ensure student safety, the Lucknow Traffic Police has initiated a specialised training programme for traffic marshals appointed by various city schools.
The training focuses on equipping the marshals with essential skills to handle the daily morning and afternoon rush. Key areas of instruction include traffic management, road safety protocols, crowd control and effective methods for regulating vehicular movement outside school premises during dispersal times.
The drive is being executed in compliance with recent high court directives aimed at streamlining city traffic, said deputy commissioner of police (traffic), Kamlesh Dixit, under whose supervision the initiative is being carried out.
Traffic marshals from various schools are undergoing a seven-day training session at the Traffic Police Lines. A total of 97 traffic marshals from 17 schools in the city are currently participating in the training.
The programme is expected to ensure smoother movement of vehicles near schools, where traffic often builds up during arrival and dispersal hours, said traffic officials.
Authorities said traffic marshals from other schools in the city will also be trained in a phased manner in the coming days to strengthen traffic management around educational institutions.
