Meerut, Oct. 30 -- A policeman in Bareilly has been suspended for violating the Uttar Pradesh Police's social media policy by projecting himself as a "public leader" and sharing objectionable posts online.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anurag Arya took action against constable (Armourer) Mohammad Aqib, who was posted at the Police Lines. Officials said his social media activities had harmed the image of the police department.
According to officials, Aqib operated several social media accounts under the name "Sir Aqib Pasha," where he described himself as a "public leader, social reformer, philosopher, and writer." His Facebook profile also mentioned "Mission 2027," hinting at political ambitions. One of his posts reportedly carried offensive remarks about women, which broke the police code of conduct. A departmental inquiry has been ordered against him. In a separate action, sub-inspector Nitin Kumar from CB Ganj police station was sent to the police lines after being caught using abusive language during a phone conversation with a complainant.
Nitin, a trainee sub-inspector, had earlier been suspended while posted at Mirganj police station.
He was reinstated five months ago but has again faced action for misconduct....
