Banda woman accidentally hangs self making a reel
Kanpur, Feb. 8 -- A 27-year-old woman accidentally hung herself to death in the Baberu area of Banda district on Friday while allegedly filming a video for social media.
The deceased, identified as Mohini, a resident of Karuiya Purwa, was attempting to record a "hanging" sequence for a reel when the makeshift noose she had prepared tightened around her neck, police said.
Rajendra Singh Rajawat, the station house officer, Baberu, said that while the husband, Jagdish Singh, has submitted a written statement citing the cause of death as "unknown," the victim's daughter informed the police that her mother was filming a stunt involving the rope.
The SHO added " the police are investigating the case from all possible angles to rule out any foul play."
The incident took place on Friday afternoon when Mohini was alone in her house. Her husband, Jagdish, had left earlier in the day to look for work.
According to local sources, the woman had secured a rope to a hook in the ceiling and was using her mobile phone to film the act.
During the performance, the knot reportedly slipped, resulting in her accidental strangulation.
The tragedy was discovered by her five-year-old daughter, who walked into the room to find her mother suspended from the ceiling.
Hearing the child's screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and alerted the police.
A forensic team was called in to collect samples from the scene, and the body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination.
While locals and the victim's children have told authorities that Mohini was obsessed with making reels, the police are currently treading with caution regarding the official cause of death.
Mohini is survived by her husband, a daughter, and a son....
