PRAYAGRAJ, June 5 -- Prayagraj is set to strengthen its public transport system with the expansion of electric bus infrastructure, as plans are underway to develop a new charging station in the Bamrauli area. The facility is being proposed to support the growing fleet of e-buses operating within the city under the Smart City initiative. Around 50 electric city buses currently operate on five routes in Prayagraj, covering areas including Shantipuram (Phaphamau), Mander Modh, Bamrauli, Raymonds (Naini) and Jhunsi. At present, all the buses rely on a single charging station in Naini equipped with eight charging points. According to UPSRTC regional manager (Prayagraj region) RK Singh, a survey is being conducted in Bamrauli to identify a suitable location for the new charging station, as there is no such facility in that part of the city. The new station is expected to ease pressure on the Naini charging hub and improve operational efficiency.
