LUCKNOW, Feb. 10 -- A goldsmith from Bahraich allegedly fled with 967 grams of gold worth over Rs.1.5 crore collected from a trader in Lucknow, police said. According to the complainant Manthan Patil (32), a gold and silver trader from Bahraich's Uttari sent his employee Shivaji Bhosale and goldsmith Afzal Ahmed to Lucknow's Aminabad to collect the gold, and deliver it to a jewellery store in Chowk. Patil said Afzal was instructed to collect gold from Brijwasi Sarraf in Aminabad and deliver it directly to New Balaji Ornament, a jewellery shop in Chowk's Sarrafa Market run by Shani Verma. "Afzal deliberately made Shivaji wait in the Chowk Sarrafa Market and went alone to Aminabad, where he collected 967 grams of fine gold," Patil said, adding that the gold's value exceeded Rs.1.5 crore.
