LUCKNOW, March 24 -- The Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board (Awas Vikas Parishad) on Monday released the action plan for implementing the One Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme-2026, offering relief to defaulting allottees through waiver of penal interest and simplified settlement provisions. The decision came during a high-level meeting chaired by the additional housing commissioner, where officials directed all departments to ensure swift and public-friendly execution of the scheme. Under OTS 2026, defaulters will only have to pay simple interest, if they fail to deposit instalments within 90 days after the due period, with no penal interest charged. Officials also clarified that cases with rescheduled instalments will be settled based on original allotment terms. The scheme allows allottees to clear outstanding dues through a one-time payment, with an aim to reduce long-pending liabilities and disputes. Authorities fixed the processing fee between Rs 100 and Rs 11,000, depending on the category of property. Applicants must deposit the fee in lump sum at the time of applying, and it will not be adjusted against dues. Officials instructed teams to keep the process simple, transparent and accessible to encourage maximum participation. The board will launch an extensive awareness campaign in the first month through newspapers, radio and digital platforms. Officials will also prepare a list of defaulters and notify them via SMS and email. Help desks will be set up across zones to assist applicants, while a high-level monitoring committee will review implementation regularly to ensure effective execution....
