LUCKNOW, Aug. 1 -- Daily commuters travelling towards Barabanki, Ayodhya and Bahraich will be able to obtain monthly bus travel passes directly from Awadh Bus Stand starting August 1, as the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) expands its Monthly Season Ticket (MST) facility to the newly operational terminal. Until now, commuters had to visit Kaiserbagh bus station to obtain or renew an MST. With the new arrangement, passengers using services originating from Awadh Bus Stand will be able to purchase and renew passes for 16 destinations along the Barabanki-Ayodhya and Bahraich corridors, reducing the need to travel to another depot for the service. The monthly pass allows commuters to travel for 30 days while paying the equivalent of only 18 days' fare, effectively offering 12 days of free travel every month. The facility is expected to benefit office-goers, students and other regular passengers who rely on state-run buses for daily travel. The MST counter at Awadh Bus Stand will remain open from 8 am to 3 pm every day. Passengers applying for an MST for the first time will have to pay a one-time registration fee of Rs.50. They will be issued a smart card after submitting the required documents, including an Aadhaar card, a passport-sized photograph and a mobile number for OTP verification. Students will also have to furnish proof of enrolment and their high school marksheet. The facility will cover destinations including Barabanki, New Barabanki, Masauli, Ramnagar, Ghaghra Ghat, Jarwal Road, Ganeshpur, Jarwal Kasba, Kaiserganj, Kundasar, Karnailganj, Sagar, Ahmadpur Toll Plaza, Bhiteria, Mawai and Bhelsar. Regional manager Vimal Rajan said the move aims to make bus travel more convenient and affordable for regular commuters using the Awadh Bus Stand. "The MST counter will function from 8 am to 3 pm. Passengers purchasing a 30-day MST need to pay only the fare equivalent of 18 days, allowing them to travel free for the remaining 12 days of the month. The facility has now been extended to Awadh Bus Stand for the convenience of daily commuters," Rajan said....
