Avimukteshwaranand targets Trust, questions SIT probe
Ayodhya, July 19 -- Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, who uses the title Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, made a series of critical statements in Ayodhya on Saturday regarding the Ram temple's management.
Addressing a press conference in Ayodhya, he strongly criticised the temple trust. He questioned the impartiality of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the state government to probe the alleged theft of Ram temple donations, Instead, he demanded an independent investigation led by five sitting Supreme Court judges.
He also demanded that Hindu religious preachers and seers be given responsibility for managing the Ram temple. He expressed displeasure over Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust treasurer Govind Dev Giri's statement in which he had called Avimukteshwaranand a "fake Shankaracharya". He announced that a notice would be sent over Govind Dev Giri's statement.
He also said Govind Dev Giri should state his contribution to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
The seer said he will visit the Ram temple only when it functions purely for spiritual purposes, devoid of politics.
He alleged that the Ram temple trust strayed from its religious purpose and is being run more like a commercial enterprise than a spiritual institution. He claimed seers were replaced by politically aligned individuals in key positions....
