Avimukteshwaranand moves HC for anticipatory bail in Pocso case
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 26 -- Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has filed an anticipatory bail application before the Allahabad high court in connection with an alleged sexual harassment case involving minor boys at his camp during the recently concluded Magh Mela. An FIR in the matter has been registered at Jhunsi police station in Prayagraj.
The bail plea is likely to be listed before the high court in the coming days. Earlier, on Tuesday, his counsel served a notice to the office of the state government advocate regarding the anticipatory bail application.
The FIR was registered on February 21 following an order passed the same day by the additional sessions judge/special judge (Pocso Act), Prayagraj, on an application seeking directions to the police to register a case against the seer and one of his disciples.
In his complaint, Shankuri Peethadheshwar Ashutosh Brahmachari claimed that during the Magh Mela, two minor boys approached him at his camp and alleged sexual exploitation at the camp of Swami Avimukteshwaranand....
