LUCKNOW, Aug. 13 -- A dog trainer's death at his in-laws' house in Indira Nagar's Takrohi was initially reported as a health emergency, but a post-mortem finding of strangulation turned the case into a murder investigation, leading to the arrest of his wife, her parents and two brothers, police said. Pankaj Tiwari of Markamau village in Barabanki was found dead at his in-laws' house on August 7. His wife Neha Tripathi and her family told police that his health suddenly deteriorated and that they took him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. "Post-mortem examination established that Pankaj had died of strangulation. Four police teams were formed to investigate the case," said SHO Ajay Narayan Singh. The case was registered on a complaint by Pankaj's father Dinesh, who alleged that his son had been killed by Neha, her parents and her two brothers. Police said evidence led to the arrest of all five accused. They were produced before a court and sent to jail. Police said the motive was a dispute over Pankaj returning late after one of his dog-training sessions. Neha allegedly suspected that he was having an affair. "The couple met during one such session and later fell in love and married. This made the wife suspect that he could be involved with someone else again," Singh said. Pankaj married Neha of Santpuram,in August 2022. It was a love marriage, after which he reportedly began living at his in-laws' house in Takrohi. According to Pankaj's family, Neha called them on August 6 and claimed that he had fallen down the stairs and died. When relatives reached Lucknow, they noticed blood and froth coming from his mouth. The family approached police with a complaint on August 9. The post-mortem later revealed that Pankaj had been strangled. Pankaj's father also alleged that after the marriage, his in-laws prevented him from visiting his village. Those arrested were Neha Tripathi, her father Brijesh Kumar Tripathi, her mother, and her two brothers all residents of Takrohi. Police said further probe is underway to establish the exact motive behind the alleged murder....
