LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- The death of a 25-year-old auto-rickshaw driver under suspicious circumstances triggered a protest at Kumhravan crossing in the Mahigawan area on Thursday, with his family alleging that he was beaten to death by a group of six men following an argument over honking. DCP North Amit K Anand said, four people have been detained while two are at large. "FIR has been registered and remaining people will be nabbed soon," he added. An FIR has been registered at Ghazipur police station against the operators and organisers of the Sawan Mahotsav swing following Tuesday evening's accident in which two minor girls were injured. The FIR alleges negligence in checking the safety and fitness of the ride. The case was registered on a complaint by Pushpa Singh, mother of the 14-year-old girl injured in the incident on August 19. A 24-year-old LLB student died after allegedly being hit in a road accident near the DGP residence in Lucknow late Wednesday night. The vehicle involved in the accident has not yet been identified, police said. The deceased, Prakhar Trivedi alias Piyush, a resident of Sundarbagh, had enrolled in an LLB course earlier this year. He was found seriously injured on the road after the accident and was taken to Civil Hospital by police. Doctors declared him dead around midnight. A 30-year-old mason died at his house in Amausi on Thursday, a day after he was allegedly assaulted during a dispute over missing construction tools and other material, police said. "The deceased, identified as Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, was allegedly beaten by two men during a dispute around 3pm on Wednesday. The incident took place after a disagreement over the disappearance of tools used for construction work and some other items," said DCP (South) MD Mushtaq. A 17-year-old Kanwariya was killed and another injured after an unidentified DCM truck allegedly hit their motorcycle on the Sitapur-Lucknow highway in Itaunja on Thursday afternoon, police said. The accident took place around 3.30pm near Ladli Hotel when the two Kanwariyas, identified as Satyam Gupta, 17, and Shobhit Gupta, 18, were travelling from Sitapur to Lucknow on a motorcycle, according to a police statement....
