PRAYAGRAJ, March 23 -- Associates of slain mafioso Atiq Ahmed and his aide Guddu Muslim allegedly chased and assaulted a contractor with iron rods in broad daylight near Nandgram, Prayagraj, on Sunday morning. CCTV footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media. Acting on a written complaint by the injured victim, Dhoomanganj police have launched an investigation. The victim, Mohammad Faisal, a resident of Kasari Masari under Dhoomanganj police station and a contractor dealing in gravel and sand, told police that a plot registered in his father's name in Ainuddinpur was being forcibly encroached upon. Three brothers from Kasari Masari, said to have links with the Atiq Ahmed gang, allegedly pressured him to execute a sale deed in their favour. According to Faisal, around 10 am on Sunday, two of the accused stepped out of a four-wheeler near Nandgram and attacked him with iron rods. Though he attempted to flee, the assailants chased him and continued to beat him brutally. Faisal further alleged that the attackers threatened to kill him if he refused to sign over the land. ACP (Dhoomanganj) Ajayendra Yadav said an investigation is underway based on the complaint and that legal action against the accused would be taken soon....
