Asst Professor Recruitment: 47% candidates appear on second day
PRAYAGRAJ, April 20 -- The re-examination for 16 subjects of Assistant Professor posts, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) for government-aided degree colleges, concluded on Sunday.
The Assistant Professor recruitment examination held in April 2025 was earlier cancelled by UP CM Yogi Adityanath in January 2026 due to allegations of irregularities.
On the second day, 19,474 candidates (47.21%) out of 41,247 registered candidates appeared for the exam. The percentage of female candidates was 30.93%, while male candidates accounted for 69.07%. Over both days combined, 39,192 candidates (47.28%) out of a total of 82,876 registered candidates appeared, informed officials.
On Sunday, the written examination was conducted in two shifts-from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm-across 50 centers in six districts (Agra, Meerut, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi). Monitoring of all exam centers was carried out from the Controller of Examinations, and the Deputy Secretary monitored all exam centers from the AI-integrated central control command room established at the Commission. Candidates' activities were also monitored through AI-enabled cameras installed at the centers.
On the second day as well, under a pilot project, answer sheets (OMR) were scanned immediately after each shift in the presence of candidates and invigilators in five centers of the district, and the scanned data was securely stored right away.
