Arrested by RPF, sanitation worker dies in hospital after falling ill
Lucknow, May 10 -- A 55-year-old ad-hoc sanitary worker arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on allegations of water tap theft from train coaches at Gomti Nagar railway station, died early on Saturday while undergoing treatment at RML hospital.
The deceased, identified as Prabhat Kumar, a resident of Lal Kurti in Telibagh, was arrested by RPF personnel on Friday evening from Gomti Nagar railway station. He was booked for theft under the Railway Act.
Kumar's health began to deteriorate a few hours after his arrest while he was still in custody.
Arun Tripathi, the senior divisional security commissioner (Sr DSC) of RPF, said, "Prabhat Kumar was taken to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences at midnight, where he was undergoing treatment. He was declared dead at approximately 3.30 am. After his arrest, he was fed and given water. After some time, he reported uneasiness, following which on-duty officers took him to hospital." The body of the deceased was sent for a post-mortem examination.
"There were no injury marks on the body of the deceased, and the cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is received," Tripathi said....
