Dehradun, Aug. 6 -- Chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam on Wednesday said that around 77% of the 2,400,000 notices issued under the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were already delivered to voters through booth level officers (BLOs). Addressing a meeting of representatives from recognised national political parties held to discuss and seek feedback on the exercise, Purushottam said that around 1,900,000 notices were delivered so far. "The election department has so far received more than 93,000 applications under Form 6, around 1.39 lakh applications under Form 7 and over 40,000 applications under Form 8," he said, adding that all applications under Form 7 were processed after verification by electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers. During the claims and objections phase, a voter can submit claims and objections in a maximum of five cases, said Purushottam, adding that the ERO will personally conduct an inquiry and verification if the number exceeds the limit. Booth-level agents (BLAs) from political parties can submit up to 10 forms daily. If an agent submits 30 forms during the revision period, the ERO will personally supervise the scrutiny and verification process. Representatives who attended the meeting included Rajkumar Purohit of BJP, Suryakant Dhasmana and Amendra Bisht of Congress, Satendra Chopra and Jaspal of BSP, and Anant Akash of the CPI(M). The revision exercise has been conducted with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The distribution and digitisation of enumeration forms were completed between June 8 and July 7. Election Commission has opened the period for filing claims and objections from July 14 to August 13 through Forms 6, 7 and 8. Notices related to claims and objections are being issued and disposed of (between July 14 and September 11), while the final electoral roll will be published on September 15. Officials said although 7,133,785 voters have been included in the draft roll, anomalies of various kinds have been identified in around 24 lakh entries. The concerned Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) have been directed to issue notices to these voters for verification. To facilitate the process, the Election Department will organise camps at Nyaya Panchayat clusters where notices will be heard. District Election Officers (DEOs) and EROs have also been directed to hold special camps in municipal corporations, municipal councils, nagar panchayats, ward offices and tehsil headquarters, particularly in the plains districts, to help voters resolve issues relating to their electoral records Officials said notices are being issued to electors identified in three categories-those flagged with anomalies, those whose records contain discrepancies and cases arising from claims and objections received through Forms 6, 7 and 8.
