LUCKNOW, Aug. 5 -- Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth honoured four retired Army personnel with the Yoddha Seva Samman during his visit to Lucknow, recognising their service to society after retirement. The award recognises veterans who have continued to contribute in healthcare, education, strategic affairs, social welfare and youth empowerment after completing their careers, said a press release shared on Tuesday. Major General Harsh Kakar (Retd) was honoured for his work in national security and strategic studies through research, lectures and writings. Colonel Arvind Singh Kushwaha (Retd) received the award for his contribution to healthcare and medical education. He played a key role in establishing AIIMS Nagpur, contributed to Covid-19 management in Maharashtra and supported the development of medical colleges in Arunachal Pradesh. Naib Subedar Radhey Shyam (Retd) was recognised for establishing an old-age home for ex-servicemen, war widows and other underprivileged people. Risaldar Major (Honorary Captain) Vijay Kumar (Retd) was honoured for setting up a Sainik Library and Motivation Centre that provides free career guidance, study material and computer training to youth and veterans....
