LUCKNOW, June 2 -- Arif Ali and Pawan Batham tied at the top position in the weekend Digital Detox Chess Rapid Open hosted by Chess Club Black and White here. Both scored 6.5/7 points each, but Arif took home the winner's trophy on better tiebreak. Veterans Kapil Kumar Khare (5 points), Sayeed Ahmad (4.5), and Mohd Syed Irfan (4) won the senior citizens' section. Top three under-16 rated players were Saransh Shukla, Shubh Srivastava, and Abhigyan Katiyar (all 5 points). The top three unrated players were Kartik Agarwal (4.5), Siddhant Chopra, and Nikhar Saxena (4 points each). Junior champion and Runner-up were Anshuman Gupta (perfect 7/7 points) and Utkarsh Sharma (6 points). Best women players were Nuzhat Jabeen, Nilam Gupta, and Navya Joshi (3 points each). Prashasti and Anayika delivered stellar performances, winning the titles in girls under-15 and under-17 categories, respectively at the Hemlata Pathak Memorial Open District Badminton Tournament, at the Excellia Badminton Academy here on Monday. In the under-13 doubles final, Anayika and Prashasti defeated Navya and Manyata 15-3, 15-3 to clinch the title. In the under-15 doubles final, both defeated Dhani Honwai and Koshin Honwai 15-9, 15-2 to secure the winner's trophy. In the girls under-17 doubles final, Anushka Srivastava and Vishalakshi had the honor of emerging victorious by defeating Adya Verma and Mahak Singh 15-5, 15-5.
