PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 17 -- The UP Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Tuesday released a notification for the assistant prosecution officer (APO) recruitment exam-2025. With the release of the advertisement, the application process too officially kicked off. A total of 182 posts will be filled through this examination. Candidates can submit their online application and pay the fee by October 16. The last date for making corrections to the submitted application and fee payments is October 24, as per the notification issued by UPPSC secretary Ashok Kumar. For eligibility, candidates must be between 21 and 40 years of age as of July 1, 2025, meaning they must have been born after July 1, 1985, and before July 1, 2004. The age relaxation will be provided as per government norms for physical challenged candidates. The recruitment for APO posts was previously announced in April 2022, with 69 vacancies. UPPSC completed the selection process through preliminary, main exams and interviews, and the results were announced in June 2023. A few aspirants alleged that the reservation policy has not been followed properly, claiming that the number of reserved category seats is disproportionately high, leaving fewer seats for unreserved (general) candidates. According to Prashant Pandey, media in-charge of Pratiyogi Chhatra Sangharsh Samiti, out of the total 182 advertised posts, only 27 are for the general category. In contrast, 18 are reserved for the economically weaker sections (EWS), 67 for Scheduled Castes (SC), nine for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 61 for OBCs. He alleged that the commission has ignored established reservation norms and warned that if the situation is not corrected soon, the committee will launch a large-scale protest. He also indicated that the recruitment process may be challenged in court. However, UPPSC officials denied these charges. "There has been no violation of reservation norms in APO recruitment," said Ashok Kumar, secretary, UP PSC....
