LUCKNOW, Aug. 27 -- The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested six alleged drug smugglers in two separate operations in Varanasi and Agra on Wednesday, recovering 145.185 kg of ganja worth around Rs.80 lakh, officials said. In Varanasi, the ANTF's Barabanki unit arrested Vishal Singh and Anmol Saini near the Ring Road crossing and seized 105.185 kg of ganja, valued at around Rs.60 lakh. A car, some cash, three mobile phones and identity and banking documents were also recovered. According to investigators, the duo allegedly sourced ganja from a supplier in Bihar and sold it to customers after arranging buyers locally. They were allegedly looking for customers for the consignment when they were arrested. A case was registered at Badagaon police station under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. In Agra, the ANTF's operational unit arrested four alleged smugglers-Narendra Kumar, Akash Sansi, Anil Kumar and Irfan Salmani-near Fatehpur Sikri and recovered 40 kg of ganja worth around Rs.20 lakh. A truck, Swift car, four mobile phones and Rs.13,340 cash were also seized. The four allegedly transported the contraband from Agartala, Tripura, concealed among rubber goods in a truck. It was later allegedly shifted to the Swift's boot for supply in Fatehpur Sikri and adjoining areas. Officials said the accused planned to sell the ganja locally at higher prices and share the profits. Cases were registered at Badagaon and Fatehpur Sikri police stations. Investigators are now tracing the source, intended recipients and other members of the alleged networks....
