Anjali shines for KCA in women's cricket tie
LUCKNOW, March 24 -- Thanks to an unbeaten half-century (61 runs) by 'Player of the Match' Anjali, KCA Kanpur secured a six-wicket victory against CAL Red in the inaugural match of the 1st Radhika Singh Memorial State-Level Women's Cricket Tournament here on Monday.
In the second match of the day, CAL Blue began their campaign with a win, defeating the Allahabad Women's Wing by eight wickets, at the Sage Cricket Ground.
While batting first, CAL Lucknow Red could make 94/8 in 25 overs. Opening batter Shargun Yadav scored 31, whereas Tashu Singh contributed 16 runs and Dhun Pimoli remained unbeaten on 14 runs. For KCA Kanpur, Archana claimed two wickets. In reply, KCA Kanpur successfully chased down the target, scoring 95/4 in 13 overs.
Though at one moment, they were struggling at 66/4, opener Anjali provided stability to the team with a solid half-century knock, scoring an unbeaten 61 runs off 53 balls, studded with 12 fours. Shweta Verma contributed an unbeaten 10 runs. For CAL Red, Shargun Yadav claimed two wickets.
In the second match, CAL Blue defeated the Allahabad Women's Wing by eight wickets, powered by the excellent batting of Player of the Match, Arzoo Singh (unbeaten 48). Batting first, Allahabad could only manage to post a total of 86 runs in 24.5 overs. Only Katyayani Pathak (20), Namasya Singh (16), Meenakshi Yadav (13), and Radha Pandey (11) were able to play substantial innings. For CAL Blue, Prisha Gupta and Chandni Sharma claimed two wickets each.
In reply, CAL Blue secured victory by scoring 87 runs for the loss of just two wickets in 17.4 overs. The team's opening pair could only add 28 runs. Subsequently, Arzoo Singh steered the team to victory with a magnificent unbeaten innings of 48 runs off 42 balls, featuring four fours and two sixes. Ayushi Srivastava contributed 12 runs, while Apeksha Tripathi chipped in with an unbeaten 13 runs....
