AMU student allegedly dies by suicide at private PG in Aligarh
AGRA, Aug. 29 -- A 19-year-old second-year French language student at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) allegedly died by suicide after he was found hanging in his room at a private paying guest accommodation in Aligarh in the early hours of Friday, officials said.
AMU proctor Prof Mohd Naved Khan said the student was living with other students at a private accommodation away from the university campus.
"The information was received at around 2:15 am on Friday. A proctorial team, along with police from Civil Lines police station, reached the room. The student was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead," Khan said.
The proctor said the student had returned to Aligarh from his home in Jammu three days ago. His family members arrived after being informed about the incident, and the student's body was handed over to them following the post-mortem examination.
Police at Civil Lines police station said a suicide note was recovered from the room. According to police, the note mentioned a family-related issue, which prima facie appears to be the reason behind the alleged suicide....
