AMU signs MoU with UPCAMP for improving air quality
Agra, June 5 -- Aligarh Muslim University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh Clean Air Management Project (UPCAMP) Authority to support scientific, technical and institutional initiatives aimed at improving air quality and promoting sustainable climate action in the state.
AMU's public relations office informed, through a press statement, that the MoU was signed in Lucknow in the presence of Hekali Zhimomi, principal secretary, environment, forest and climate change department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and B Chandrakala, chief executive officer, UPCAMP Authority.
Prof Sohail Ayub of the Department of Civil Engineering signed the agreement on behalf of AMU. He has also been designated as the Environmental and Social Focal Officer for the project and will coordinate its implementation at the University under the guidance of the AMU administration.
UPCAMP is a World Bank-supported initiative of the Government of Uttar Pradesh designed to address air pollution through an integrated and multi-sectoral approach. The collaboration is expected to facilitate research, capacity building, technical support, knowledge sharing and policy inputs for effective air quality management and environmental sustainability.
Prof Sohail Ayub said that the partnership would enable AMU to contribute its academic expertise towards addressing critical environmental challenges and promoting evidence-based solutions for cleaner air and sustainable development....
