AMU annual flower show concludes with prize distribution
AGRA, March 27 -- The annual flower show-2026, organised by the department of land and gardens, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), concluded with a prize distribution ceremony.
The vice-chancellor's lodge won the university running cup for the best university garden while Gulistan-e-Syed won the Begum Sarwatun Nisa Cup for the best large lawn (above 2000 sq m) and the Nafisul Hasan Running Cup for the best rose in Class C-4.
Addressing the gathering, former VC Prof Mohammad Gulrez highlighted the importance of such events in promoting environmental awareness and appreciation for horticulture. Pro VC Prof M Mohsin Khan emphasised that the flower show reflects AMU's rich tradition of aesthetic excellence and community participation.
District forest officer, Aligarh, Shivam Kumar, lauded the participants for their dedication while proctor Prof Mohammad Naved Khan appreciated the efforts of the organisers and participants.
A total of 242 prizes were awarded across categories, including 72 first prizes, 73 second prizes and 97 consolation prizes, with the total prize amounting to Rs. 38,650....
