Almora committee to probe alleged student harassment by teacher
Rudrapur, July 25 -- Almora district administration has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate allegations that a female lecturer at a government inter-college in Salt forcibly cut the hair of five Class 12 students and tore their shirts as punishment for alleged indiscipline, officials said on Friday.
The incident at Government Inter College (GIC) Bangidhar in Salt block took place on Wednesday. The matter came to light after the students informed their parents, following which a group of parents and local residents reached the college premises on Thursday and staged a protest, demanding strict action against the lecturer. Rinku Bisht, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Salt, said a three-member committee had been formed at the college level to conduct an inquiry and establish the facts surrounding the incident. "A three-member committee has been formed at the college level for an inquiry into the matter to ensure a fair and factual report. The committee will submit its report on July 26, and action will be taken according to the facts and circumstances of the incident," Bisht said.
Officials said the lecturer, Arzoo Afroz Ansari, who teaches geography at GIC Bangidhar, allegedly cut the hair of five Class 12 students using a blade on Wednesday....
