LUCKNOW, July 24 -- A major fire broke out at the corporate office of a pharmaceutical company in Jankipuram's Sector F on Thursday morning after an alleged short circuit in an air conditioner, destroying furniture, electronic equipment and office assets. No one was injured in the incident, said the fire department. According to the fire department press statement, the blaze was reported at 9.34 am from a building near Engineering College in Sector F. "Two fire tenders from the BKT fire station were rushed to the spot," said fire station officer (FSO) Prashant Kumar. Officials said the fire had engulfed the ground-floor corporate office by the time firefighters arrived. Thick smoke and flames blocked the main entrance, forcing the rescue team to break a glass panel to gain access before launching firefighting operations. The blaze was brought under control after around 45 minutes. Neelam Mehrotra, who operates the agency, said a housekeeping staff member had reached the office in the morning and switched on the air conditioner before beginning cleaning work. Soon afterwards, a loud noise was heard from the AC, followed by smoke. Preliminary findings indicate that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the air conditioner....
