Lucknow, July 27 -- Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) celebrated its 26th Foundation Day on Sunday. Students made the occasion memorable with spectacular cultural performances. In his address, vice chancellor Prof JP Pandey highlighted the university's 26-year journey. He noted that the university-distinctive for its role in granting affiliations-has reached its current stature through the tireless efforts of its faculty, officers and staff. He also outlined future challenges, stating that the university should not merely remain an affiliating body. Instead, it must expand academic activities and focus on research and innovation. These areas will define the university's identity. The VC said the AKTU is working on several schemes in this regard and that the curriculum is being revised to meet future requirements. He also acknowledged the contributions of past vice chancellors, officers and staff in the university's growth. Registrar Reena Singh said the university began with 50 affiliated institutes and has now grown to encompass over 750 colleges. She enumerated the university's achievements, highlighting the promotion of digitalisation and curriculum changes implemented in line with the New Education Policy. Documentary, cultural events captivate audience A documentary chronicling the university's history was screened during the event. Additionally, BTech students performed a group song, while others paid tribute to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam through poetry recitations. Women students captivated the audience with a cultural dance performance, and a theatrical presentation showcased the life story of Dr Kalam. A highlight of the event was the mesmerising enactment by students of the episode where Lord Ram crosses the ocean.
